a sequence of 的意思是序列，数列，是十分，非常，强调顺序的，还有指的是一系列的事件，动作等。比如a1，a2，a3，a4，a5，a6.etc.就是a sequence of....

a succession of可以翻译成一系列

“a series of+名词”作主语时，动词用单数，如：A series of pre-recorded tapes has been prepared for language laboratory use.已经为语言实验室准备了一系列预录的磁带。

补充：（1）a sequence of：一系列的一连串一个…的序列

例如：

In a sentence a sequence of words becomes more than just a list.

在一个句子中单词的次序不仅仅只是一个表。
